The Park

The palace grounds are 10 hectares in size. The park consists of three lakes, an ice house, a burial chapel (built in 1925) and the ruins of the green houses.

The park was neglected and grew wild after World War Two. Many of the original features were destroyed including Baroque style stone benches and sculptures. Old oaks and exotic trees were cut down to make way for a football pitch. The original meandering stream which supplied water to the lakes was replaced with an underground canal.

In 2017 the sluice gate was restored by the local government and the water flow to the lakes has increased.

Since 2012 the Tarnowski family with the help from some locals have started the slow process of restoring the park. Many trees have been cut back, tree alleys have been restored and wild growths dug out. A lot of work is still required. The lakes need dredging, original banks rebuilding and many of the original features restoring. Plans are in place to restore the park and lakes.

We are always looking for volunteers to help restore and maintain the park.

The park is open to the general public free of charge and we encourage visitors to come and walk around. We only ask you to take away any rubbish you bring with you.
